With the arrival of summer, a primary concern for everyone is how to care for their skin. Intense heat, sweating, and sun tanning can cause the skin to lose its natural glow.

Maintaining healthy, radiant skin requires more than just external care; internal care is equally important. According to Ayurveda, skin beauty depends not only on external treatments but also on internal health, a proper diet, and appropriate care.

Ayurveda links beauty to the body's overall balance. When the body is in balance, its vitality (*Ojas*) is clearly reflected on the face. Various skin issues can also appear with age. Overcoming these problems is quite simple; it just requires adjustments to your diet and skincare routine. Instead of relying on expensive, chemical-laden commercial products, opt for natural home remedies. You can incorporate face packs made from red lentils (*Masoor Dal*) or nutmeg (*Jaiphal*) into your lifestyle.

To treat tanning and blemishes, lightly roast red lentils and grind them into a paste. Mix this paste with turmeric, milk, and Fuller's earth (*Multani Mitti*) and apply it to your face. Once dry, gently massage your face and slowly remove the pack. This deeply cleanses the skin of impurities and restores its glow. A saffron and nutmeg face pack also yields excellent results during summer.

To prepare this, soak saffron in milk and grind the nutmeg into a paste. Mix the nutmeg paste with a little gram flour (*Besan*) and the saffron-infused milk, then apply the mixture. This remedy helps treat dark circles and pigmentation and can be used twice a week. Avoid applying nutmeg directly to the skin; always mix it with other ingredients, as its heating nature can irritate or damage the skin.

Internal beauty is just as important as external beauty. To support this, ensure your diet includes plenty of water, beetroot, fresh fruits, Indian gooseberry (*Amla*), and pomegranate. Avoid incompatible food combinations (*Viruddha Ahar*), such as consuming salty foods with milk, mixing milk with yogurt, or eating sweet fruits alongside sour ones.
