Classic Boba Milk Tea Recipe (Serves 2)

Ingredients:

For the Tapioca Pearls (Boba):

½ cup black tapioca pearls (available at Asian stores or online)

4 cups water

2 tbsp brown sugar (for sweetness after cooking)

For the Milk Tea:

2 black tea bags (or 2 tsp loose-leaf black tea)

1 cup hot water

1 cup whole milk or any plant-based milk (like oat, almond, or coconut)

2–3 tbsp sugar or honey (adjust to taste)

Ice cubes

Instructions:

1. Cook the Tapioca Pearls:

Bring 4 cups of water to a boil.

Add tapioca pearls and stir gently to prevent sticking.

Boil for 10–12 minutes or as per package instructions until chewy.

Turn off the heat, cover, and let sit for another 5 minutes.

Drain the pearls and rinse under cold water.

Mix with 2 tbsp brown sugar and set aside.

Brew the Tea:

Steep tea bags in 1 cup hot water for 5–7 minutes.

Remove tea bags and let the tea cool slightly.

Stir in sugar or honey while still warm.

Assemble the Drink:

Divide the sweetened boba into 2 tall glasses.

Add a few ice cubes.

Pour in the brewed tea and top with milk.

Stir well and enjoy with a wide straw!

Optional Add-ins:

Flavored syrups (vanilla, caramel, or fruit)

Matcha powder for matcha bubble tea

Fruit purees or jellies
