If you’re craving a quick, crispy, and flavorful snack, salty fries are the way to go! This simple recipe gives you golden, crunchy fries with a perfect balance of saltiness. Let’s dive into how to make these addictive treats.
Ingredients:
4 medium-sized potatoes
2 tablespoons olive oil (or vegetable oil)
1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)
Fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme) for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Potatoes:
Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into evenly sized strips or wedges, depending on your preference.
Soak the Fries:
Soak the cut potatoes in water for at least 30 minutes. This step helps remove excess starch, making the fries crispier. After soaking, pat the potatoes dry using a clean kitchen towel or paper towel.
Preheat the Oil:
Heat the oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Alternatively, you can use a deep fryer if you have one for even more crispy fries.
Fry the Potatoes:
Carefully drop the potato strips into the hot oil in batches. Avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure they cook evenly. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
Drain and Season:
Remove the fries from the oil and drain them on paper towels. Immediately sprinkle with salt and any additional seasonings you prefer, such as black pepper, garlic powder, or paprika.
Garnish and Serve:
Optionally, garnish with fresh herbs for an extra touch of flavor. Serve immediately while hot, and enjoy your crispy, salty fries!
Tips:
For a healthier version, you can bake the fries at 400°F (200°C) for 25-30 minutes, tossing halfway through.
