Ingredients:
200g paneer (crumbled or grated)
1 onion, finely chopped
1 tomato, finely chopped
1-2 green chilies, chopped
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1/4 cup milk (optional, for a creamier texture)
1 tbsp oil or ghee
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
Lemon wedges (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Paneer:
Crumble or grate the paneer into small pieces. You can also pulse it in a food processor for a finer texture.
Cook the Spices:
Heat oil or ghee in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Sauté for another 1-2 minutes until the raw smell of ginger-garlic disappears.
Add Tomatoes and Spices:
Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook the mixture until the tomatoes soften and the oil starts to separate from the masala.
Add Crumbled Paneer:
Once the tomato mixture is cooked, add the crumbled or grated paneer. Mix well to combine with the masala.
If you want a creamier texture, you can add a little milk and cook for 2-3 minutes to let the paneer absorb the flavors.
Final Touch:
Sprinkle garam masala and stir. Cook for another 2-3 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.
Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
Serving:
Serve the Paneer Bhurji with paratha, roti, naan, or steamed rice. You can also enjoy it as a filling for sandwiches or wraps.
