White sauce pasta is a rich and creamy dish loved by pasta enthusiasts worldwide. This easy-to-make recipe blends smooth, velvety white sauce with perfectly cooked pasta, offering a deliciously comforting meal.
Ingredients:
For the pasta:
2 cups pasta (penne, fusilli, or macaroni)
4 cups water
1 tsp salt
1 tsp oil
For the white sauce:
2 tbsp butter
1.5 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida)
2 cups milk (warm)
½ tsp black pepper powder
½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
½ tsp oregano or mixed Italian herbs
Salt to taste
¼ cup grated cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
For the vegetables (optional):
½ cup bell peppers (red, yellow, green, chopped)
¼ cup sweet corn
½ cup mushrooms (sliced)
1 tbsp olive oil or butter
Instructions:
Step 1: Cook the Pasta
Boil water in a pan, add salt and oil.
Add pasta and cook until al dente (soft yet firm).
Drain and rinse under cold water to prevent overcooking. Set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Vegetables (Optional)
In a pan, heat 1 tbsp olive oil/butter.
Sauté bell peppers, mushrooms, and corn for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender. Set aside.
Step 3: Make the White Sauce
In a pan, melt butter and add all-purpose flour. Stir continuously for 1-2 minutes until it turns slightly golden.
Gradually add warm milk while stirring to avoid lumps.
Cook until the sauce thickens. Add salt, black pepper, chili flakes, and oregano.
Add grated cheese and stir until melted and creamy.
Step 4: Combine Everything
Add the cooked pasta and sautéed vegetables to the white sauce.
Toss gently to coat everything evenly in the sauce.
Cook for 2 minutes and turn off the heat.
Serving Suggestions:
Garnish with extra cheese and fresh basil.
Serve hot with garlic bread for a complete meal.
