If there's one dessert that perfectly balances elegance with comfort, it's Tiramisu. With layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers and velvety mascarpone cream, topped with a dusting of cocoa powder, this Italian classic is as indulgent as it is easy to make.

Ingredients:

6 large egg yolks

3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar

1 cup (240ml) heavy cream

1 cup (240g) mascarpone cheese, room temperature

2 cups (475ml) strong brewed coffee or espresso, cooled

1/4 cup (60ml) coffee liqueur (optional)

2 packs of ladyfinger biscuits (savoiardi)

Unsweetened cocoa powder (for dusting)

Dark chocolate shavings or grated chocolate (optional)

Instructions:

Whisk & Heat:

In a heatproof bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler) and whisk continuously for 8–10 minutes until the mixture thickens. Remove and let cool.

Whip the Cream:

In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

Combine Cream and Mascarpone:

Gently fold the mascarpone into the cooled yolk mixture, then fold in the whipped cream. The mixture should be smooth and airy.

Dip the Ladyfingers:

Mix the coffee and coffee liqueur (if using) in a shallow dish. Quickly dip each ladyfinger—don’t soak—then layer them in a rectangular or round dish.

Layering:

Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of dipped biscuits and top with the remaining cream.

Chill:

Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight. The flavors intensify as it rests.

Finish & Serve:

Dust generously with cocoa powder and top with dark chocolate shavings before serving. Optional: Garnish with fresh mint for a pop of color.

Tips:

Use high-quality mascarpone for best flavor.

Don’t over-soak the ladyfingers—they get soggy quickly.

For a kid-friendly version, skip the liqueur.

Tiramisu is perfect for dinner parties or cozy nights in—it never fails to impress. Enjoy a slice of Italy with each spoonful!
