International Yoga Day 2026 (June 21) is now just six days away. The theme for this year's Yoga Day is ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging.’ The Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, has recommended the practice of *Sarvangasana*—often referred to as the "Queen of Asanas"—due to its numerous benefits.

According to the Ministry, many young people today are troubled by premature graying of hair caused by a hectic lifestyle, stress, and poor dietary habits. Regular practice of *Sarvangasana* can significantly help prevent this issue. By inverting the body and lifting it upwards, this *asana* improves blood circulation, thereby supplying more oxygen and nutrients to the head and scalp. This strengthens hair roots and slows down the process of premature graying.

*Sarvangasana* is also known as the shoulder-stand pose. In this posture, the individual lies on their back, lifts both legs upwards, and supports the entire body weight on their shoulders. When performed correctly and under the guidance of a yoga expert, this *asana* proves beneficial for various health issues.

Practicing *Sarvangasana* offers multiple benefits: it reduces premature graying of hair and other signs of aging; maintains hormonal balance by activating the thyroid and other endocrine glands; and alleviates digestive problems such as indigestion and constipation. It provides relief from conditions like hernia, hemorrhoids, and uterine issues, while also boosting energy and vitality in the body and calming the mind.

The Ministry of Ayush emphasizes that yoga is not merely a medicine but a way of life. Practicing *Sarvangasana* for just 10–15 minutes daily helps maintain long-term health. People of all ages should incorporate it into their daily routine.
