Ingredients:
For the Burger Patties:
Boiled potatoes – 3 medium-sized
Chickpeas (cooked) – ½ cup (optional, for added texture)
Bread crumbs – ¾ cup (or use cornflakes powder for a crunchier texture)
Onion – 1 small, finely chopped
Carrot – 1 medium, grated
Green beans – ¼ cup, finely chopped
Green peas – ¼ cup, boiled (optional)
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Cumin powder – ½ tsp
Chili powder – ½ tsp (adjust to taste)
Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp
Fresh coriander leaves – 2 tbsp, chopped
Salt – to taste
Black pepper powder – ¼ tsp
Oil – for shallow frying
For Assembling the Burger:
Burger buns – 4 (whole wheat or regular)
Lettuce leaves – 4
Tomato – 1, sliced
Onion – 1 small, sliced (optional)
Cheese slices – 4 (optional)
Ketchup or mayonnaise – as required
Pickles – optional
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Veg Patties:
Mash the Potatoes: Start by boiling the potatoes until soft, then peel and mash them in a large bowl.
Prepare the Mixture: Add the cooked chickpeas (if using), grated carrot, chopped onion, green beans, boiled peas, and chopped coriander leaves to the mashed potatoes.
Spices and Seasoning: Mix in the coriander powder, cumin powder, chili powder, ginger-garlic paste, salt, and black pepper. Combine everything well.
Form Patties: Add bread crumbs to bind the mixture together. If it's too sticky, add more bread crumbs. Shape the mixture into round patties that fit the size of your buns.
Shallow Fry: Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the patties until golden brown on both sides. Set them aside on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
2. Prepare the Buns:
Toast the Buns: Slice the burger buns in half and lightly toast them on a pan or in a toaster with a little butter for extra flavor.
3. Assemble the Burger:
Layer the Bun: Start with the bottom half of the toasted bun. Place a lettuce leaf first (this helps prevent the bun from becoming soggy).
Add the Patty: Place the crispy veggie patty on top of the lettuce.
Add Toppings: Add a slice of tomato, a slice of onion (optional), and cheese slice (optional). You can also add pickles for extra tang.
Spread Condiments: Add ketchup, mayonnaise, or mustard to the top half of the bun.
4. Serve:
Top it Off: Place the top bun over the layered ingredients to complete the burger.
Serve Hot: Serve your veg burger hot with a side of fries or salad.
Tips:
Veggie Variations: Feel free to add more veggies like bell peppers, zucchini, or corn for a different texture.
Spices: Adjust the spices according to your taste; you can add garam masala or Italian seasoning for a unique flavor.
Gluten-Free Option: Use gluten-free buns and breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version.
Enjoy your Veg Burger – a tasty, wholesome meal perfect for lunch or dinner!
