Cheese balls are a beloved snack enjoyed by people of all ages. Crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside, they are perfect for any occasion, be it a party, a family gathering, or a quick evening treat. Here's a simple recipe to make mouthwatering cheese balls at home.

Ingredients

For the cheese balls:

1 cup grated mozzarella cheese

2 medium-sized boiled and mashed potatoes

½ cup grated cheddar cheese (optional for extra flavor)

2 tablespoons cornflour

1 teaspoon mixed herbs (oregano, thyme, basil)

1 teaspoon chili flakes

Salt to taste

½ teaspoon black pepper powder

For coating:

½ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup breadcrumbs

Water as needed

Oil for deep frying

Instructions

Prepare the Cheese Mixture:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the grated mozzarella and cheddar cheese, mashed potatoes, cornflour, mixed herbs, chili flakes, salt, and pepper.

Mix thoroughly until you have a smooth and cohesive dough-like consistency.

Shape the Balls:

Take a small portion of the mixture and roll it into a ball using your palms. Repeat this process until the entire mixture is used. Ensure the balls are firm and evenly sized.

Prepare the Coating:

In a small bowl, mix the all-purpose flour with a bit of water to form a smooth, lump-free batter. The batter should be thick enough to coat the cheese balls.

Place the breadcrumbs in a separate plate.

Coat the Cheese Balls:

Dip each cheese ball into the flour batter, ensuring it’s fully coated.

Roll the coated ball in breadcrumbs until it’s completely covered. Repeat for all the balls and set them aside.

Fry the Cheese Balls:

Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. To check if the oil is ready, drop a small breadcrumb into it; if it sizzles and rises to the surface, the oil is hot enough.

Gently slide 4-5 cheese balls into the hot oil. Fry them in batches to avoid overcrowding.

Fry until they turn golden brown and crispy on the outside, usually 2-3 minutes.

Use a slotted spoon to remove the balls and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the cheese balls hot with your favorite dips like marinara sauce, garlic aioli, or ketchup.

Garnish with chopped parsley or grated parmesan cheese for added flavor.

Tips for Perfect Cheese Balls

Prevent bursting: Ensure the cheese balls are coated well with breadcrumbs to prevent the cheese from oozing out while frying.

Freeze before frying: For firmer balls, freeze them for 10-15 minutes before frying.

Customize flavors: Add finely chopped jalapeños, green onions, or bacon bits to the cheese mixture for a personalized touch.
