The beginning of a child's life is as crucial as it is delicate. The early days following birth—and the first six months in particular—lay a strong foundation for the child's development. This is the time when a child most needs proper nutrition, love, and care. The first 180 days of life—the initial six months—can have a profound impact on the child's entire life.

During these first six months, breast milk is considered the most vital and invaluable source of nutrition for the baby. It contains nutrients tailored to the baby's needs, fostering physical growth and boosting immunity. The mother's first milk after birth, known as colostrum, is also extremely important for the infant. This thick, yellowish milk is rich in nutrients and helps provide early protection to the newborn.

Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended for the first six months of an infant's life. Generally, there is no need to give the baby water, honey, or other foods during this period; breast milk alone suffices to meet the baby's nutritional and hydration needs.

Breastfeeding does more than just nourish the baby; it also strengthens the emotional bond between mother and child. The physical touch and sense of closeness a baby experiences in the mother's arms are vital for emotional development.

Once the baby turns six months old, nutritious complementary foods are introduced alongside breastfeeding to meet their growing nutritional requirements. Soft, nutritious, and easily digestible foods can be gradually incorporated into the diet, tailored to the baby's age and needs. It remains important to continue breastfeeding during this time as well.
