Vedanta rolls out unique inclusion policy for transgenders

In an effort towards promoting inclusivity and diversity at workplace, Vedanta Ltd, a globally diversified natural resources company, launched a unique inclusion policy for its transgender employees. The policy was announced during an interactive awareness session with Laxmi Narayan Tripathi hosted by Hindustan Zinc centred around promoting diversity and inclusion. The company celebrated pride month by organizing engaging sessions as part of the ongoing initiative ‘Zinclusion’ with esteemed guest speakers like Laxmi Narayan Tripathi and Ella D’Verma.

As part of the comprehensive policy, Vedanta is extending additional medical benefits in terms of a 30-day gender reaffirmation leave and financial support of upto Rs. 2 lakhs for gender reaffirmation surgery. The unique benefits extended under the policy, highlight the company’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful working environment for all its employees.

While addressing the session at ‘Zinclusion’, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, Activist, Actress, Bharatnatyam Dancer, Motivational Speaker & Entrepreneur said “It is wonderful to witness leaders taking active charge in embracing diversity & inclusion policies. I believe the medical benefit policies announced by Vedanta Hindustan Zinc for their transgender employees will go a long way in embracing inclusivity across the organization. It strengthens and reiterates the organization’s commitment towards bringing in equality and ensuring employment opportunities for all.”

In addition to the new policy benefits, Vedanta has been at the forefront of promoting diversity, inclusion, and social responsibility through continuous trainings and workshops. These initiatives aim to educate and sensitize employees about the importance of creating an inclusive workspace for all. The company has also set a strategic goal to achieve a 40% inclusivity benchmark across its leadership ranks by 2050.
