Introduction

Malai Bread Roll is a simple and delicious Indian sweet snack made with bread, creamy malai, milk, sugar, and a few aromatic ingredients. These soft, rich rolls are perfect for breakfast, evening snacks, festive occasions, or when you want a quick homemade dessert. The combination of creamy filling and soft bread makes every bite irresistible.

Ingredients

For the rolls:

8–10 bread slices

½ cup fresh malai or milk cream

3 tbsp powdered sugar

¼ tsp cardamom powder

2 tbsp chopped almonds

2 tbsp chopped pistachios

1 tbsp desiccated coconut (optional)

2–3 tbsp milk, as needed

For coating:

½ cup milk

2 tbsp sugar

¼ tsp cardamom powder

Chopped pistachios and almonds for garnish

Recipe

Step 1: Prepare the malai filling

Take fresh malai in a bowl. Add powdered sugar, cardamom powder, chopped almonds, pistachios, and coconut. Mix everything well until you get a smooth, creamy filling.

Step 2: Prepare the bread

Remove the brown edges from the bread slices. Gently flatten each slice using a rolling pin. Do not press too hard, as the bread may tear.

Step 3: Make the rolls

Place 1–2 teaspoons of the prepared malai mixture on one side of the bread. Roll the bread tightly and gently seal the edge. Repeat with the remaining bread slices.

Step 4: Prepare the milk mixture

Warm the milk in a pan. Add sugar and cardamom powder and stir until the sugar dissolves. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.

Step 5: Coat the rolls

Dip each bread roll quickly into the sweetened milk. Do not soak the bread for too long, otherwise it can become soggy.

Step 6: Garnish and serve

Arrange the rolls on a serving plate. Garnish with chopped pistachios and almonds. Chill for 20–30 minutes for a refreshing dessert, or serve immediately.

Tips for Perfect Malai Bread Rolls

Use fresh, soft bread for the best texture.

Keep the malai filling thick so it doesn't leak out.

Dip the rolls in milk quickly to prevent them from becoming soggy.

Add saffron strands for a richer flavour and attractive appearance.

For extra sweetness, drizzle a little condensed milk over the rolls before serving.

Conclusion

Malai Bread Roll is an easy homemade treat that requires only a handful of ingredients and very little cooking time. Its creamy texture, soft bread, and nutty flavour make it a wonderful dessert for both children and adults. Try this recipe whenever you want something quick, creamy, and delicious.
