Intense heat and harsh sunlight have become a major problem for people these days. During the afternoon, the sun's rays are so strong that even a brief period outdoors can cause the skin to burn. Many people experience skin redness and a burning sensation—a condition known as sunburn. This occurs when the sun's ultraviolet rays damage the skin's outer layer. Dust and pollution further weaken the skin during this time, causing the effects to manifest quickly. In such situations, home remedies that cool the body and soothe the skin can prove very helpful.
Aloe vera is considered one of the easiest and most effective remedies for sunburn. It is a plant rich in antioxidants such as polysaccharides and vitamins A, C, and E. It contains a cooling, viscous gel that provides immediate relief to the skin. When applied to the affected area, it gradually dissipates the heat from the burnt skin. Its natural components help reduce inflammation.
Cucumber is also highly beneficial for sunburn, as it consists of approximately 95 percent water and helps hydrate the skin. Sunburn depletes the skin's moisture, leading to a burning sensation and a feeling of tightness. Applying cucumber juice helps restore moisture, soothing the skin and gradually reducing redness.
Rose water is another time-tested and simple remedy. Derived from rose petals, its extract possesses anti-inflammatory properties. Additionally, the pH level of rose water closely matches that of the skin, helping to maintain its natural balance. When applied, it provides an immediate cooling effect and alleviates burning. It also soothes the skin's nerve endings, thereby reducing the sensation of pain.
