In today's fast-paced life, people adopt various methods to stay healthy. Some go to the gym, others take morning walks, and some turn to yoga. Yoga encompasses not only physical postures (*asanas*) but also various hand gestures (*mudras*) that benefit both the body and the mind. One such gesture is *Shunya Mudra*. It is a simple yoga mudra that can be practiced while sitting anywhere.

The method of performing *Shunya Mudra* is very easy. First, sit in *Padmasana* (Lotus Pose). Next, place both hands on your knees. Now, bend your middle finger and hold it down with your thumb, applying gentle pressure. Keep the remaining fingers straight. Maintain normal breathing throughout and try to keep your mind calm. After holding this pose for a few minutes, slowly return your hands to their normal position.

According to yoga experts, *Shunya Mudra* is considered particularly beneficial for the ears. It is said to help balance energy within the body. When the body's balance is maintained, it can provide relief from certain common ear-related issues.

This mudra is also considered good for the throat. It is useful for people who speak a lot, sing, or have jobs that require continuous speaking. Practicing this mudra keeps both the body and mind calm, thereby relaxing the throat muscles. Many yoga instructors believe it helps keep the voice clear and improves vocal quality.

*Shunya Mudra* affects not only the body but also the mind. Stress and anxiety have become very common issues these days. When a person sits quietly and practices this mudra for a few minutes, their attention shifts away from external distractions and focuses inward. This allows the mind to gradually calm down. That is why it is also considered beneficial for mental peace.

Practicing this mudra also helps improve blood circulation in the body. Sitting comfortably while taking deep, normal breaths brings a sense of relaxation to the body. This improves blood circulation to various parts of the body. Good blood circulation plays a vital role in maintaining physical health.

This mudra is also considered beneficial for respiratory issues. During the practice, one focuses on the breath, which can help improve breathing habits. Regular practice can assist the body in receiving more oxygen.

However, there are a few things to keep in mind while performing this mudra. It should not be practiced immediately after a meal. If there is any pain, injury, or discomfort in the thumb or middle finger, one should consult a doctor or yoga expert before attempting it.
