World Yoga Day 2026 is just around the corner. Ahead of this special occasion, the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, has been consistently urging citizens to incorporate yoga asanas into their daily routines. Practicing the right asanas not only improves physical health but also keeps the mind happy and calm.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, yoga is not merely physical exercise; it is an ancient Indian science for maintaining the health of both the body and the mind. Due to busy lifestyles, work pressure, and stress, people today often face issues like hypertension or high blood pressure. In this context, yoga experts recommend the regular practice of *Baddha Konasana* (Bound Angle Pose), which is highly beneficial.

*Baddha Konasana* is also known as the ‘Bound Angle Pose.’ It is an effective asana that is easy to perform. To practice it, sit upright on the floor, bring the heels of both feet together, and let your knees open outwards. Hold your toes with both hands, sit straight, and take deep breaths. Staying in this pose for a while activates the muscles of the lower body, improves blood circulation, and gradually alleviates accumulated stress.

Yoga experts state that *Baddha Konasana* activates the parasympathetic nervous system. This helps maintain a normal heart rate, controls blood pressure, and brings deep peace to the mind. Practicing this asana while breathing deeply helps dispel the day's fatigue and negative thoughts. It uplifts the mood and significantly reduces stress levels.

Experts believe that dedicating just 15 minutes a day to yoga makes a person feel energetic and positive. This asana is particularly beneficial for those struggling with hypertension. However, it is advisable to consult a yoga instructor before starting any new asana.

The Ministry has urged all citizens—especially the youth, the middle-aged, and the elderly—to make this International Yoga Day memorable and to make yoga an integral part of their lives.
