International Yoga Day (June 21) is now just a few weeks away. In light of this, the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, is encouraging the general public to embrace yoga by regularly sharing information on various yoga postures (asanas) and their associated benefits. Continuing this initiative, the Ministry has provided detailed information regarding the practice of *Bhadrasana* and its advantages.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, one should seek solace and strength within a state of tranquility. *Bhadrasana* conveys precisely this message. This simple yet effective yoga posture is particularly beneficial for individuals experiencing mental instability, menstrual discomfort, or those seeking gentle physical support during pregnancy.

The Ministry of AYUSH emphasizes that yoga is not merely a form of physical exercise, but a way of life—a lifestyle. By incorporating simple postures like *Bhadrasana* into one's daily routine for a short duration each day, one can maintain the health and well-being of both the body and the mind. This practice not only ensures physical health but also fosters a cheerful and stable state of mind.

The Ministry notes that the regular practice of *Bhadrasana* aids in cultivating mental stability. It helps keep the mind calm and serves as an effective tool for alleviating the restlessness often associated with the hustle and bustle of daily life. During pregnancy, if women practice this posture—preferably with gentle physical support and under a doctor's guidance—it helps restore physical balance and reduces fatigue. Furthermore, it can significantly alleviate menstrual discomforts such as pain, cramps, and mood swings.

The small habits we cultivate today lay the foundation for a healthy future. If you are experiencing persistent mental restlessness, discomfort during menstruation, or feel the need for additional physical support during pregnancy, these may be signs that your body is seeking to restore its balance. *Bhadrasana* is highly effective in providing relief from precisely these issues. It strengthens the lower body—specifically the lower back, knees, and hips—and improves blood circulation.

To practice *Bhadrasana*, sit in a comfortable cross-legged position (*Sukhasana*), bring the soles of your feet together, and gently open your knees outward. Keeping your spine erect, place your hands on your knees or thighs. Maintain this relaxed posture and focus your attention on your breath. During this time, do not exert any pressure on the body or the breath. Beginners may start with a few minutes and gradually increase the duration.
