Maintaining physical balance and inner energy has become a challenge in today's busy lifestyle. In this context, *Utthita Parsvakonasana* (Extended Side Angle Pose) is a yoga posture that revitalizes the body.

The term *Utthita* means extended or stretched, *Parsva* means side, and *Kona* means angle. In this pose, a complete and graceful side angle is formed along the side of the body. It not only enhances physical strength and flexibility but also fosters mental stability and concentration.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, *Utthita Parsvakonasana* is one of the most important and comprehensive standing yoga poses; it massages abdominal organs, improves digestion, and strengthens the legs and spine. Additionally, it increases body flexibility and has a positive impact on the spine. It also aids in chest expansion and provides relief from sciatica pain. However, individuals suffering from severe sciatica should consult a doctor before attempting it.

Performing this pose is quite simple. Start by spreading your feet wide apart on a yoga mat. Turn your right foot outward, gently bend the right knee, and lower your body into a lunge-like position. Place your right hand on the ground near your right foot and extend your left arm straight up, aiming for a 90-degree angle. Hold the pose for a while, then slowly return to the starting position. Beginners might find it slightly challenging at first, but with practice, the body will become more flexible and accustomed to the movement. Repeat the same process on the other side (bending the left leg).

Avoid practicing this pose if you have a severe back or neck injury, high or low blood pressure, or migraines.
