Sitting in a chair for hours at the office often leads to body stiffness, lower back pain, and general backache. Vyaghrasana (Tiger Pose) is a precise, simple, and effective solution to alleviate these issues. Practicing it helps reduce belly fat and revitalizes the body with new energy.
During Vyaghrasana, the body assumes a posture resembling that of a tiger, which is why it is known as the Tiger Pose. This posture also aids in channeling energy in a controlled and purposeful manner.
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, Vyaghrasana is a significant yoga posture that strengthens and increases the flexibility of the spine while providing relief from lower back pain and sciatica.
The gentle pressure exerted on the abdominal organs during Vyaghrasana stimulates the digestive system, offering relief from issues like gas and constipation. Regular practice improves digestion and regulates appetite.
Vyaghrasana stimulates the Manipura (Solar Plexus) and Swadhisthana (Sacral) chakras. This posture fosters self-confidence, inner strength, and a sense of empowerment.
It improves blood circulation throughout the body. This pose ensures the efficient delivery of oxygen and nutrients to various body parts, thereby strengthening muscles and reducing fatigue. It is particularly beneficial for strengthening the muscles of the legs, arms, and back. Enhanced blood circulation also boosts the immune system, helping you maintain long-term health.
To perform Vyaghrasana, kneel on a yoga mat and place your palms on the ground, distributing your body weight between your hands and knees. Inhale deeply, look forward, and lift your right leg straight back while simultaneously stretching your neck upwards. Then, while exhaling, bend your right leg and bring it towards your chest, arching your back upwards into a rounded shape.
