In today's hectic lifestyle, characterized by poor posture and stressful environments, finding stability for the body and mind is a major challenge. In this context, 'Setu Bandh Sarvangasana' acts like a restorative remedy.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Setu Bandh Sarvangasana (Bridge Pose) is a powerful yoga posture that opens the chest, strengthens the back, and calms the mind. It derives its name from its structure and the positive effects it has on the body.

Regular practice of this asana helps alleviate lower back pain and stiffness. It stimulates the thyroid gland, thereby improving hormonal balance. Additionally, it helps reduce stress and depression. It also improves the digestive system and promotes healthy blood circulation. It is also effective in alleviating menstrual-related issues in women.

To perform this asana, start by lying on your back. Place your arms alongside your body with your palms facing downwards. Bend your knees and bring your feet close to your hips, keeping your feet flat on the ground. While inhaling, slowly lift your hips, waist, and lower back upwards. You can interlock your fingers on the ground and shift your shoulders slightly inwards; alternatively, you can hold your ankles with your hands.

In this position, try to touch your chin to your chest. Your entire body weight should be supported by your shoulders, arms, and feet. Breathe normally and hold the pose for 30 to 60 seconds. While exhaling, slowly lower your waist and back to the ground.

Avoid performing this asana if you have any serious neck or back injuries or conditions.
