Yoga is not merely a way to keep the body fit; it is an excellent process for balancing both the body and the mind. If you are troubled by lower back and neck pain or excess fat around the abdomen and hips, or if you wish to improve your body's flexibility, you can incorporate *Ustrasana* (Camel Pose) into your yoga routine.
In a post on the social media platform X, the Ministry of AYUSH explained that to perform *Ustrasana*, one should first sit in *Vajrasana* (Thunderbolt Pose). Next, rise onto your knees, keeping a slight gap between your knees and feet. Slowly inhale while bending your body backward and placing both hands on your heels. Avoid moving your neck backward suddenly or with a jerk. In the final pose, the thighs remain almost perpendicular to the ground, and the body's weight is balanced between the hands and feet. You can hold this pose for 10 to 30 seconds while breathing normally.
*Ustrasana* can help improve body flexibility. It is considered particularly beneficial for those experiencing stiffness in the lower back, shoulders, and neck. Bending the body backward stretches the muscles around the abdomen and hips, aiding in the reduction of fat in these areas. However, performing a single yoga pose does not guarantee fat loss; a balanced diet and regular physical activity are also essential.
This pose can also help keep the digestive system active. Additionally, by expanding the chest, it can positively influence respiratory capacity and overall energy levels. Regular practice, combined with a consistent yoga routine, can help make the body stronger and more flexible.
However, caution is essential when performing *Ustrasana*. Individuals suffering from heart-related conditions or hernia should not attempt this pose without consulting an expert.
